It is more economical to have more number of flat units on each floor level rather than increasing the overall height of the building. Usually in India the setbacks for apartments is around 10 ft from the compound wall on all three sides except the front compound wall from which the apartment needs to have a setback of around 15 ft to 20 ft. This does differ from place to place so individual consideration is done for every project.
